Tuesday nights are one of the worst for dining out (along with Sunday and Mondays). Everywhere we wanted was closed or booked out – Short Order Burgers, Ace Pizza, Three Coin – so we ended up at Hanami Japanese after driving around endlessly searching for good food.
WHAT WE ORDERED
The boys left it up to me to order so I went to town with the entrees! Entrees are generally the tastiest and you get to try so many different dishes.
The karaage was nicely fried and well seasoned. I thought it was well priced for the serving size. However, it is not the best karaage I’ve had.
Beef tataki was cooked well (not overly cooked like some cheap places!!). The tang from the sauce was just right.
Agedashi tofu was really delicious. But I don’t understand why it came with some tempura veggies in the same dish? We wanted just tofu 🙁
The tuna tataki was my favourite – go figure – raw fish 🙂
I was going to order a sushi roll (or two) to satisfy my sushi craving but the boys stopped me from being a greedy gut. Mr Munchies had been on my mind all day…fat, overfilled, and saucy sushi rolls! But I couldn’t convince the boys to go Mr Munchies tonight…really need to work on the art of persuasion…
The mains were all just ok. I don’t have anything good or bad to say about them. I don’t think I’m going to rush back here in a hurry. Nothing really stood out!
Can you believe this is the first time I’ve dined at Hanami? I know…it has been around for ages!
There was nothing to fault about the food. Everything was tasty but nothing impressed me. The service was really slow and inattentive but I guess that’s cause it was a full house. I don’t think I will be trekking all the way to Mount Lawley for a similar feed that I could find at say Yuki Japanese or Silver Sushi.
